Dr. Robert L. Savory

Dr. Robert L. Savory Dr. Robert Savory graduated from Centenary College and completed his medical degree at LSUHSC-Shreveport in 1976. After years of active duty working as Flight Surgeon at Barksdale AFB, La, he completed his family medicine residency training at LSUHSC in Shreveport and joined with Dr. David Henry in 1982 at Youree Associates which is now Family Medical Center. Dr. Savory remained on active reserve status in the Air Force as the Medical Squadron Commander and Wing Medical Director for 32 years, at the former 917th Wing. He retired from the Air Force as a colonel and continues to treat military veterans at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center.

Dr. Savory has practiced at Family Medical Center for over thirty years and enjoys the daily interaction with his patients and providing them with excellent medical care. His many years of practicing Aviation medicine in the Air Force allow him to provide the expertise needed for Federal Aviation Administration medical certification for pilots locally and as far away as England. He is able to complete FAA exams for Class I, II, and II; as well as DOT and CDL physicals. He also frequently performs employment physicals and sports examinations.

Dr. Savory is genuinely interested in listening to his patients and this great attribute often results in a busy patient schedule.

Dr. Savory is board certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). He serves as the medical director for Willis-Knighton Hospice of Louisiana. Other organizations that Dr. Savory serves in include: Aerospace Medical Association, Reserve Officer’s Association, American Academy of Family Medicine, Louisiana Academy of Family Medicine, American Geriatric Association, American Medical Director Association, and American Geropsychiatric Association. With the wide variety of patients in Dr. Savory’s practice, he has also participated in many medical research studies over the last twenty years for diabetes, hypertension and various elevated cholesterol studies for the adult population.

Dr. Savory’s personal interests involve gardening, traveling and participating in church activities.
